After waking up at the Courtyard, we headed over to 瑠璃光院 Ruriko-in for its fall special viewing event. We then ascended 比叡山 Mt. Hiei by funicular and aerial tram. Atop the mountain, we visited the ガーデンミュージアム比叡 Garden Museum Hiei and various buildings of 延暦寺 Enryaku-ji. We descended by funicular to the east and returned to Kyoto by train. In the evening, we attended a special night viewing at 智積院 Chishaku-in.

After waking up at the Courtyard, we headed over to Kiyomizu-dera to see the fall foliage and the special viewing of the garden at Joju-in. We then had gyukatsu for lunch and headed over to Heian-jingu to take a look around the shrine and garden. We ended the day with excellent parfaits at Gion Tsujiri before walking back to the hotel via Nishiki Market.

After breakfast at the InterContinental Lyon, we headed over to Chambery, a former capital of Savoy, for the day. The weather wasn’t great. We ended up visiting the Cathédrale Saint-François-de-Sales and Musée Savoisien with lunch in between at a Savoyard restaurant. Unfortunately, the museum of the Château des Ducs de Savoie is closed on Mondays so we could not visit.

After breakfast at the InterContinental Lyon, we traveled by train to Dijon. We visited the Church of Notre Dame, the museums of Fine Arts and Burgundian Life, and had lunch. Of course, we also bought some mustard before returning to Lyon!

After breakfast at the InterContinental, we headed over to the Fourviere Hill. The ruins of the Roman theatres were closed due to wind but we were able to visit the Lugdunum Museum and Basilica of Notre Dame. After, we walked through a bit of Old Lyon before having dinner at a bouchon.
