After arriving late last night at Gimpo, we stayed at the LOTTE City Hotel at the airport before heading to the RYSE in Hondae the morning. After dropping off our bags, we had breakfast and visited Gyeongbokgung, Seoul’s main royal palace. We spent the morning there followed by lunch nearby. We then visited the Cheong Wa Dae, also known as the Blue House, the presidential residence until 2022. We ended the day with dinner in the area before returning to the RYSE.

After arriving at Haneda, we checked in at the Mesm, near the JR Hamamatsucho Station. We then had dinner nearby, which turned out to be the most disappointing meal we’ve ever had in Japan. After that fiasco, we went to see nighttime sakura illuminations at Tokyo Midtown and Roppongi before returning, getting some 7-Eleven onigiri on the way back.

After breakfast at the Le Méridien, we visited Schloss Nymphenburg. After spending the morning there, we returned to central Munich for lunch and to explore the old town area a bit more. We visited two historic churches, the Asamkirche and Frauenkirche, and walked around the exterior of the Neues Rathaus.

After arriving in Munich and dropping off our bags at the Le Méridien, we headed over to the Residenz. After walking through the former palace, we had lunch nearby and returned to see the Cuvilliés Theatre. We then took a quick walk through the nearby Hofgarten before visiting the nearby Theatinerkirche. We continued on to see the Marienplatz and adjacent New City Hall. We popped into the nearby St. Peter’s for a quick look before walking around the old town area to end the day.

We headed over to Philly to use a free night certificate at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, see the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations, and to eat some good Chinese food that we can’t get at home!
