After breakfast at the Kameha Grand, we headed out for our last full day of the trip. We took the tram to Tiefenbrunnen, by Lake Zurich, and walked back to the Altstadt. We visited the Chinese Garden on the way as well as the large Wienachtsdorf, a Christmas market. We walked through the Altstadt, visited more markets, and saw the evening’s Singing Christmas Tree performance before walking around the city a bit more.

We missed the fantastic aurora seen across the US on Friday night due to inclement weather, and again Saturday night due to even worse weather. We decided to drive over to Shenandoah National Park tonight as the forecast called for good weather with clear skies.

We were fortunate to be able to see the Sun today for the solar eclipse as the weather forecasts weren’t particularly optimistic. Although we were about 250 miles away from the totality zone, we still did see 89% of the Sun obscured by the Moon!

We visited Fort McHenry this morning to see the cherry blossoms as well as to take a look at the remains of the Key Bridge, which was destroyed a few days ago after being hit by a ship.
